of Harper Joy (1894-1972), the multifaceted circus performer, entertainer,
humorist, and highly respected Spokane businessman. He was one of the
first personalities to be featured on Ralph Edwards's "This Is
Your Life." He led Spokane's record-breaking war bond drive during
WWII and played an instrumental role in the founding of Spokane's Shriners
Hospital for Children. Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., named
a theater for him and Louis Davenport created the enchanting Circus
Room in his famed, historic Davenport Hotel in honor of his friend.
